Simple Sample of A Daily Lesson Plan

Simple Sample of A Daily Lesson Plan

Teachers engineer and shape the future of over a billion students across the globe every semester. Most students and learners may not remember what subjects the teachers taught, but they mostly remember how they were taught and what strategy they used to keep them inquisitively engaged in the entire learning process.

Teachers who understand how critical and sensitive their role is, are really concerned about the future of their nation and before that the builders of the nations and civilized society-the students. Every single action on the part of a teacher becomes a source of great inspiration for his/her students as young children learn more by seeing and, doing and practicing than by listening to the instructions alone.

Planning in advance for any undertaking is one of the most promising signs of a progressive or growth mindset.  A lesson plan is a teacher's handbook that gives a clear direction to the teacher to present his/her learning materials in a systematic manner, despite the length of time it takes to prepare. It has many benefits not only for the learners but also for the teacher and his /her teammates. Let's have a cursory look at these advantages before we go into the slide pictures of a very simple sample of a daily lesson plan as an example.

Advantages of a lesson plan
  1. The teacher has a clear goal and the roadmap to reach there as per the age, standard, and learning styles of the learners, and without deviating from the path.
  2.  It strengthens the confidence of the teacher and the learners become even more respectful towards the teacher,(Jensen, 2001).
  3. It saves both teachers' and students' time as they learn to complete a task in due time.
  4. A lesson plan also teaches the teacher to meticulously document the daily/weekly or yearly plans.
  5. It is a strong tool for classroom management and fosters high standard discipline in learners.
  6. It gives equal opportunity to learners of all styles and skills to complete a task.
  7. It enables the teacher to identify the strengths and weaknesses of learners pertaining to a particular topic.
  8. Learners facilitated even by novice teachers with consistent lesson plans are more likely to produce better results than the veteran teachers who enter the class with a mindmap alone.
  9. It helps the teacher to observe his own weaknesses and thereby work on the same to make the required improvements in the future plans and methodologies, (Reed & Michaud, 2010).
  10. The lesson plan can act as a record and a means for the teacher to easily answer the queries of the management or parents as and when required. (evidence of a teacher's professional integrity and performance)
  11. It enhances a teacher's documentation and organizational skills.
  12. It can be easily archived by the teacher for future use so that s/he can save a great deal of time to focus on his/her PDCs. (Professional Development Courses) and so on and so forth.

The lesson plan below is based on these fundamentals which are what most of us as elt professionals have been doing across countries. Nevertheless, great enthusiastic and passionate teachers can embellish this plan with the addition of a lot of interactive materials, but one must remember the usual time allocated for each lesson on a daily basis.

Conclusion

It is evident that almost all projects initiated with a good implementable plan and consistent monitoring have hardly failed in obtaining their desired goals, so do our lesson plans, whatsoever. To produce the desired lesson goals and similar learning outcomes at the end of a semester or a session, young aspiring teachers and not excluding the veterans are encouraged to practice their ELT with powerful plans and strategies rather than methodology alone as absolute methods may not work in different situations. But then, the major question can not be undermined to mind the engineers' endeavors of carving out a socially responsible and morally dignified personality for the nation in the future. In other words, teachers' morale and motivation must not be ignored. The state itself and other stakeholders must continuously empower and support these groups of people to keep the magic of learning happening even at the most difficult times, bearing in mind the immeasurable pains and sacrifices teachers make for not only shaping an individual nation's future but the future of the entire world.
