Teaching Learning Materials Preparation Amid Ongoing COVID-19 Calamity (A/S 2077)
Dear Faculty,
Needless to say that the global pandemic COVID-19 has
compelled us to lock down almost all spheres of our everyday businesses. More
than that most of us are even unable to make or take any decisions amid such
uncertainty and a situation of life and death. Despite this, there is something
that prevents us from giving up, and that is hope and optimism.
Life must go on as we did it some five years ago and to take
our lives back on track, we must work for ourselves, our children, and the
future of our nation. However, we may not be able to work formally at our
regular desks risking the health and lives of our young children including
ours.
I fear that this lockdown presumably will extend as far as
June 2020 with some intervals though. In this worst-case scenario, the best thing we could have done by then is already provided online classes and tasks
to all our students for the months of April, May and June thereby prepared them
to take the first Trimester/Terminal Tests.
In regard to this painful uncertainty and confinement, you
may easily conjecture why I am earnestly requesting you all to start
collecting, compiling, and preparing teaching-learning materials based on the
prescribed National Curriculum for English Language and our Internal Curriculum
for English Literature.
You probably will receive a digital copy of the calendar and
individual routines in a week's time that better clarify who takes which
subjects (Literature/Language) a week and accordingly you will sort out the
already prepared or prepare new materials quite in advance. Understanding your
time and other constraints, I expect you to prepare lessons on a weekly basis
at its best or as many as three days' lessons in advance and submit the same to
the concerned Block/Class charges at regular intervals.
At this point, you are not letting yourself be panicked as
to what to prepare and how to prepare as online materials. Download the
digital copies of the text/ course books from our school website, https://gems.edu.np, https://moecdc.gov.np
, https://nkcs.org.np
https://india.oup.com , etc.
Simply put, prepare the lessons using Word processor, PowerPoint, PDF file
format, MS Publisher, or anything digital you are at home ensuring that it
is presentable and modifiable. You may also use the sources already available
on the internet. Prepare materials unit wise like 3-4 lessons per unit covering
1-2 units a week in case of classes I-VII and 1 unit with 5-6 lessons a week
for higher classes. Also, ensure that you assign 4 Language Classes/Lessons and
2 Literature classes altogether a week for Grades I-VII. In case of higher
Grades, please assign 5-6 Language classes/lessons a week.
We have planned to launch our online classes beginning next
month, Baisakh 2077, as per our calendar.
Please be in regular contact via Viber/WhatsApp with your
class/subject colleagues to collaborate and share the development of required
materials with one another.
Soon I am sending you the Test Specification Matrix for both
English Literature and English Language for your convenience to designing and
drafting test materials.
Please respond to confirm the receipt of the mail.
Prayers for your good health and best wishes.

PS: May I have a request for the
concerned Block/Class in charges to upload the digital copies of all the
text/course books, with the calendar and teacher's individual routines, on our
school website for teachers' reference as many teachers do not have copies of
these books at home to prepare the materials required for these three months’
time.

and 11 am for further queries.
